Lambda Adds Low-Profile, Hot-Swappable 1000W Power Supplies with Available I²C Monitoring

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 27, 2004) - Lambda has launched the FPS1000-48, the first in a series of 1000-watt power supplies whose low profile and hot-swap capability make them especially suitable for N+1, redundant applications. The series is available with an I²C interface that monitors key functions – a requirement for remotely situated systems.

Rated at 48 volts/21 amps, the FPS1000-48 accepts a wide range of input voltages – from 85 to 265 VAC – and contains active PFC (power factor correction) circuitry to meet EN61000-3-2 standards. It meets Class B EMI standards – radiated and conducted – with an earth leakage current of less than 1.1 milliamps at 265 VAC.

As many as three FPS1000-48 units fit into an optional 1U high, 19-inch wide shelf, for a total system power of 3000 watts; individually the units measure 1.61 x 5 x 13.8 inches. Up to eight supplies can share a single bus, with a selectable address setting included in the shelf. Customers may specify front or rear AC input IEC320 receptacles.

To enhance system flexibility, the supplies come with an opto-coupled isolated remote on/off, AC fail, DC OK and over-temperature signals. The I²C interface provides read-back on output voltage, output current, internal temperature and alarm status.

The power supplies operate in temperatures ranging from 0oC to 50oC full load and are cooled by internal variable-speed fans. All models are RoHS compliant, carry the CE mark, and conform to UL60950-1 and EN60950-1 standards.
