Lambda Doubles Power Density with new RoHS Compliant DC-DC Converters

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 17, 2004) - Lambda has introduced an ultra compact, lightweight family of DC-DC converters that provides up to double the power available from comparably sized converters. RoHS compliant, the new PSS 1.5- to 10-watt converters are designed for use in a number of applications, ranging from factory automation to communications equipment.

The Lambda PSS series comprises of 48 models, with power ratings of 1.5-, 3-, 6- and 10-watts; each power rating can be supplied with a choice of 5-, 12-, 24- and 48-volt nominal input voltages, and with a 3.3-, 5-, or 12-volt outputs.

The four compact package sizes measure from 0.79 x 0.63 x 0.31 inches (1.5-watt models) to 1.61 x 1.02 x 0.31 inches (10-watt models). The new DC-DC converters produce twice the output power as currently offered packages, allowing designers to upgrade their systems without changing board layouts.

A unique ventilated case gives the series a very low weight - just 4 grams for the 1.5-watt models, 14 grams for the 10-watt units.

The PSS series operate from -40°C to +85°C full load with an airflow of 1 meter per second. Input to output isolation is 500-volts AC. In addition to being RoHS compliant, all models conform to UL60950-1, CSA 60950-1, and EN60950-1 standards.
