New 3"x 5" power supply provides +3.3V, +5V and floating 12V output for flexibility…

LAMBDA EXPANDS SC SERIES WITH TWO NEW TRIPLE-OUTPUT MODELS

MELVILLE, N.Y. (March 28, 2000) – Lambda expanded its popular low-profile SC Series of AC-DC power supplies with the SCT401 and SCT601, triple-output models that provide outputs of +5V, +3.3V and a floating 12V output. The two new models utilize magamp control for tighter regulation on the 5V and 3.3V outputs. The SC Series, which is primarily used for powering LAN/WAN and Ethernet switching systems, fits the 3" x 5" industry standard footprint with 1" and 1.5" profiles suitable for 1U racking systems.

“The SC Series provides high reliability in a low-cost package. With Lambda’s superior design and the use of high-quality components, the SCT401 and SCT601 deliver the highest field reliability,” said Lambda marketing manager David Norton. “These new triple-output models provide even greater flexibility, and are ideal now that many boards are transitioning to a mixture of 3.3V and 5V ICs. In addition, the floating 12V output enables the third output to be used as either a +12V or –12V output.”

According to Norton, the SC Series’ low profile allows customers, especially those utilizing 1U high racks, to offer lower profile systems.

The SC Series now offers 33 single, dual and triple output models ranging from 33 to 80W of power with 3.3 to 48VDC available outputs. The series features a rugged design, using quality name-brand components and Lambda’s high design standards, and has earned EN51000-4, -2 through –6 Level 3 immunity/surge ratings. All SC series products provide overvoltage and short circuit protection.

Pricing for the SCT401 and SCT601 starts at about $40 per 100 pieces. They are available now through Lambda distributors.
