New DC-DC converter meets industry standard footprints and
pinouts…
LAMBDA EXPANDS HALF-BRICK SERIES WITH DUAL OUTPUT MODEL
SAN DIEGO (July 31, 2000) – Lambda expanded its popular half-brick PAH Series
DC-DC converter with the introduction of the product family’s first dual output module. Like the other models in the series, the 75W dual output power module targets on-board distributed power applications in the telecommunications industry. All PAH Series power modules provide industry standard pinouts and footprints to allow for easy integration in existing systems. These DC-DC converters are ideal for wireless cellular applications as well as PBX systems, LAN/WANs, broadband distribution and remote electronics.
"The PAH Series power modules were designed specifically for the telecom industry, where power applications are moving more and more toward distributed power architectures,” said Lambda product manager Dorrel Vernon. “Our half-brick DC-DC power modules provide customers with a quality alternative for these applications, offering repeatable high level performance that ensures system up-time for critical power applications.”
The Dual Output Models
The PAH Series dual output model provides 75W output power and offers outputs of 3.3V and 5V with an efficiency of 82 percent.
The Single Output Models
The PAH Series single output models are available with nominal 48V inputs at 50W, 75W, 100W, 150W and 200W output power ratings. Outputs of 2.5V, 3.3V, 5.0V, 12V, 15V, 24V and 28V are available. Single output modules provide up to 88 percent efficiencies.
All PAH Models
The PAH modules are designed using a primary-side ASIC chip which decreases the component count, thereby increasing reliability and lowering overall product costs. The modules are manufactured in Lambda’s ISO 9000 automated SMT facility, where there are nine high-speed SMT lines, making it possible for Lambda to produce high volume quantities with short lead times.
All models of the PAH Series measure 2.28" x 2.4" x 0.5", meeting industry standard footprints and pinouts.
The outputs on all PAH Series models may be remotely programmed from an external voltage source or by an external variable resistor using the trim pin. Adjustment capability is ±10 percent for 3.3V outputs, +15/-40 percent for the 5V output and +10/-40 percent for the 12V to 28V output models.
Overvoltage protection is provided for 120 to 160 percent of nominal voltage for the 2.5V models, 120 to 140 percent for the 3.3V models and 125 to 145 percent for 5V to 28V models. All modules are equipped with an overcurrent protection circuit and are designed to recover immediately after a short circuit condition.
The PAH Series operates in a baseplate temperature range from –40 to 100˚C with no deratings. The product line is UL1950-recognized, CSA950-certified, EN60950-approved and meets CE Mark (LVD).
Pricing for the PAH Series starts at $56 for single output models in OEM quantities.
